To mark the Romantic Year 2024, the Kraszewski Museum is devoting itself to the theme of travelling and hiking as a point of contact between German and Polish Romanticism. The artistic theme of the Giant Mountains and landscape painting in the Saxon and Bohemian mountains will be included.

Romanticism, as Europe's great cultural epoch, was not only characterised by ideals of nature and nature worship, but also by crises and upheavals. Travelling and migration movements against the backdrop of political events were reflected in texts and images. The exhibition provides an insight into the conditions of Romanticism beyond the borders. Who felt the desire to travel and why? Why was there frustration with travelling? It also asks about the influence on subsequent generations: Was German Romanticism merely an export hit and Polish Romanticism a purely political affair?

The exhibition shows works from the collections of the Krkonoše Museum in Jelenia Góra / Hirschberg, the Silesian Museum in Görlitz, the Bad Schandau Museum, the Pirna City Museum, the Dresden City Museum and the Dresden Municipal Gallery.
